Electric Vehicle Charging Points- Q&A

Electric Vehicle Charging Points- Q&A

26th February 2021

We’ve seen an exponential increase in the sale of electric vehicles in recent years. The Government and automobile experts estimate over 10,000,000 passenger EV and 1,000,000 commercial EVs will be sold over the next 15 years in the UK.

What’s the impact on the UK?

By 2030, the UK Government have committed to meeting world wide climate change targets which will reduce CO2 emissions by 75%, saving Britain £15bn in fuel costs.

What does this mean for you?

To encourage you to purchase EVs, there are grants available for you to make it cheaper and more practical for you to own and run your EV.

What’s the cost benefit?

EVs are more expensive to buy than fuel cards but they are much cheaper to run.

Are EV costs reducing?

Yes. The cost of EVs are reducing considerably so they’re more affordable for the majority. The more efficient the EV, the more grants available.

What’s cheaper, electric or fuel?

You can save over £10p per mile using EV cars instead of fuel cars, with EV’s costing 2p per mile compared to 12p for petrol.

Are there any other cost savings?

Yes!

  • There are no road or company car tax if your EV costs less than £40k.
  • No congestion charges in congestion zones
  • Grants available for home EV charging points
  • Cheaper energy tariffs available for overnight charging

What can small business owners do?

From a business’ perspective, it is a great way to not only encourage footfall but to rewards staff, clients and contacts for taking a sustainable approach to their transportation needs.
